The SD Nari Youth Committee is dedicated to educating, empowering, and engaging young women.

SD Nari Youth Committee Members
Kavita Shah
Youth Lead
Kavita is a leader at a Fortune 500 company, with over 20 years of experience in the Software industry. In addition to technology, she is passionate about working with youth to help shape them to be the leaders of the future. She has worked with youth as a mentor for the Westview Robotics program and helped promote STEM education in elementary and middle schools. Additionally, she also worked with youth in an organization called Swadhyay to help them understand their Vedic heritage. A self-proclaimed foodie, Kavita lives in San Diego with her husband and enjoys taking long walks at the beach.
Sia Hotchandani
President of SD Nari Youth Committee
Sia Hotchandani is a junior at Scripps Ranch High School. She is passionate about dancing and has been doing Bharatnatyam, a form of classical dance, for 8 years now. Another hobby of hers is playing tennis. She has been playing tennis for 4 years now and plans to join her school team. One of her favorite things to do is spend time with her friends and family. She enjoys being able to bond with others and create memories. Sia also has a singing background of 4 years. One of her favorite things to do in her pass-time is bake for her friends and family. Sia is passionate about the things she does and loves to learn from her experiences!
Riya Anand
Social Media Director of SD Nari Youth Committee
Riya Anand is a senior at Del Norte high school. She loves to play tennis, and is a part of her school’s tennis team. She also loves to dance, and has been learning kathak for the past 10 years. Her other interests include robotics. In addition, she has been participating in robotics competition since elementary school and has continued through her high school career. She’s very passionate about volunteering, and giving back to the community, which is what she hope to accomplish through SD Nari!
Siona Rahate
Events Coordinator of SD Nari Youth Committee
Siona Rahate is a junior at Canyon Crest Academy. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, doing gymnastics, dancing, and art. Siona has done competitive rhythmic gymnastics for 8 years, finishing as a level 9 gymnast. She is very passionate about maintaining her health and encouraging her family to join her. Siona learned Bollywood dance for 5 years and hopes to continue dancing in the future. Spending time with her friends and family is one of Siona’s favorite past times. Siona enjoys volunteering and hopes to give back to the community and have fun in SD Nari!
Sai Korada
SD Nari Youth Committee Member
Sai Korada is a junior at Scripps Ranch High School. She loves dancing and singing. She has been learning bharatanatyam and carnatic music for about 8 years. She always loves to dance for fun and sings all the time. She enjoys listening to music whenever she can. She also loves spending quality time with her family and friends. She believes it is always important to make time for her loved ones no matter how busy she gets. She is part of several school clubs and even the vice president of the RISE club at her school. She has also volunteered in many ways and hopes to continue serving her community. She is eager to make a positive impact on her community by helping change the lives of women in San Diego as a member of the SD Nari Youth Committee.
Deena Kahn
SD Nari Youth Committee Member
Deena Kahn is a junior at scripps ranch high school. Her love for bollywood/classical dancing has grown over the years as she also loves to play guitar. Deena also loves to sing as it runs in her family. She loves to make new friends and spend time with her family as that is one of the most important things to her. The women in her family are her biggest role models which is why SD nari really stood out to her because she would love to help women as much as she can. Deena has a positive attitude and will love to give back to her community!
Shree Patel
SD Nari Youth Committee Member
Shree Patel is a sophomore at Del Norte High School. She enjoys baking and playing badminton in her free time. Shree is also involved in HOSA at Del Norte, and is interested in pursuing biotechnology. She loves volunteering and giving back to the community! As a member of the youth committee, she looks forward to positively impacting the lives of women in San Diego!
Anya Kalia
SD Nari Youth Committee Member
Anya Kalia is a sophomore at Torrey Pines High School. She loves traveling to explore and experience new places. Anya is very passionate about acting, and has featured in a few projects. She enjoys creative writing and reading. Another quality of hers is dancing, which she has been doing since a very young age. Anya is also pursuing business and marketing. She loves playing basketball in her free time with friends. Anya is very eager to give back to the community, as a member of SD Nari’s Youth Committee, and is excited to encourage, motivate, and bring positivity to others!
Aashiyana Patel
SD Nari Youth Committee Member
Aashiyana Patel is a sophomore at Torrey Pines High School. She is passionate about acting and singing. She has a singing background of 7 years and it is one of her favorite hobbies. Aashiyana also loves to dance and spent 2 years learning Bollywood dance. In her free time, she enjoys engaging in many forms of art, including drawing and painting, as well as expressing her creativity through baking. When Aashiyana entered high school, she furthered her computer programming skills by joining her school’s robotics team, The Millenium Falcons. As a member of the SD Nari Youth Committee, she aspires to further her interest in empowering women and giving back to the community.
Priyankaa Nigam
SD Nari Youth Committee Member
Priyankaa Nigam is a junior at Westview High School. When she is not doing academics, you will find her baking a cookie or knitting a bootie! She has been avidly involved in community service since a young age; volunteering at homeless shelters, interacting with the elderly who have dementia, and teaching kids how to knit. She is the co-founder of Compass 4 Humanity, a non-profit organization which tutors refugee students to help them assimilate in American schools. She aspires to make a meaningful contribution to society and actively support and help women in need.
Raina Agrawal
Secretary
Raina Agrawal is a junior at Poway High School. In her free time she enjoys playing basketball, reading, baking, playing guitar, and spending time with friends and family. She has been a Girl Scout for 11 years and loves that she gets to learn important life skills while making friends and volunteering. She is passionate about giving back to the community, and does so by running clubs that donate products and raise money for others in need. As a member of SD Nari’s Youth Commitee, she hopes to inspire women and make in impact in our community!
Nishi Patel
SD Nari Youth Committee Member
Nishi Patel is a junior at Scripps Ranch High School. She enjoys fostering puppies in her free time and volunteers at Helen Woodward Animal Rescue. In total, she has fostered over 20 puppies. Nishi also enjoys reading, some of her favorite books are We Are The Ants and Dune. Her favorite thing is spending time with friends and watching Star Wars. She aspires to pursue a career in engineering or biology. In addition, she enjoys volunteering and tries to give back to her community in any way possible.
Aditi Sathe
SD Nari Youth Committee Member
Aditi Sathe is a sophomore at Scripps Ranch High School. One of her biggest passions is dance and she has been learning Kathak for the last 7 years. She loves working with younger kids and also enjoys volunteering in her community. She is also involved in the Red Cross Club at her school. She loves to spend time with her family and friends as well as make new friends. She hopes that by joining the SD Nari Youth Committee she can help support South Asian women and give them voice that they deserve.
Simi Gulrajani

Simi Gulrajani is a junior at Del Lago Academy. She has a strong passion for reading and writing, and aspires to go to law school in the future. One hobby she’s quite passionate about is dancing, which she has been doing since six years old. She is vice president of her school’s DECA chapter, which is a business-oriented club for high schoolers. Additionally, she loves volunteering, and hopes to get involved with her community through SD Nari!
